A Day in the Life: Keeping Buildings Smart and Secure
Rise and Shine: The Morning Routine
As an employee at Total Automation Concepts, Inc., my day starts early. I grab my coffee and head out to our first client in Oak Brook, IL. Today’s agenda includes a routine check on their building automation system and a security system upgrade.
First Stop: Building Automation Maintenance
8:00 AM: I arrive at the client’s office building. The property manager greets me, and we discuss the building’s performance since our last visit. I begin by:
- Checking the HVAC controls
- Reviewing energy consumption data
- Optimizing lighting schedules
- Ensuring all sensors are functioning correctly
Midday: Security System Upgrade
After lunch, I start working on the security system upgrade. This involves:
- Installing new surveillance cameras
- Updating access control software
- Integrating the new components with the existing building automation system
Afternoon: Troubleshooting in Naperville
3:00 PM: I receive a call about a building integration system issue in Naperville. I drive over to diagnose and resolve the problem, which turns out to be a minor software glitch.
Wrapping Up: Report and Plan
5:30 PM: Back at the office in Bolingbrook, I complete my daily report and plan for tomorrow’s installations in Downers Grove and Tinley Park.
Working at Total Automation Concepts, Inc. means every day is different, challenging, and rewarding. From Chicago to the suburbs, we’re keeping buildings smart, secure, and efficient – one system at a time.
